A contractor has been punished and will have to pay a fine of QR80,000 for delayed delivery of the contract works undertaken at a Majlis (lounge) and non-compliance to non-standards, a Primary Court has ordered. The case was of a Qatari man who entrusted a contracting company to build a Majlis for him within six months with both parties agreeing on a penalty for a delayed delivery of QR500 for each day of the delay. The company, however, failed to abide by its obligations and the court eventually appointed an expert to assess the building and file a report.
